Keep notes of what you do. Yes it is tedious. But it does enable you to repeat your successes and to improve on your failures. I’m just thinking that perhaps I ought to make a series of yellow ochre (or whatever) pastels using different base materials so I can decide what base I really prefer. Unless I keep careful notes right through the process (including labelling the pastels), I will be wasting my time.
